Chapter 9: Resources + Credits

One Arm Positions for Aerialists provides information on how to hold one arm positions in the air with good technique and the help of a spotter. The technique I describe uses the concept of the Shelf to emphasize working the largest muscles in the back and (in internally rotated positions) the chest to safely support the weight of the body in the four one arm positions: one-arm neutral, meat hook, reverse neutral, and flag. The manual approaches each position as a progression to the next, with the philosophy that working mindfully with an emphasis on form will yield results that are safe, lasting, and give room for artistic expression.
